Oh, my God...I had no idea Jason Carter had had a brain injury before appearing in Babylon Five. It was never apparent onscreen; he was always consistently his character, who was a very likable man.

I didn't exactly have a crush on Marcus, but I certainly did think he was good-looking.

The rumor I heard at the time about his firing was that he'd been fired for not remembering his lines. It can be a real catch-022 when you have a disability. If you tell people about your disability, they might be willing to make accommodations for you and help you out--or they might simply refuse to hire you. Even with the Americans with Disabilities Act in place, nothing says a business must hire a disabled job applicant.

In an industry as lacking in formal standards as acting, all a casting director really has to say is that X actor was better in the role than Y actor was, with zero reference to disability. It's entirely a subjective opinion.

I am amazed that your father performed as well as he did for as long as he did, considering his injury.
