No. We may not have been taught about successful slave uprisings, but we most certainly were taught about the horrific living conditions on slave ships. So we were under no illusions that slavery was anything other than an appalling practice, the ultimate exploitation of one group of human beings by another. We were taught this regarding Roman and other slavery as well as African slavery.
