Most of us have read the Harry Potter novels, which means a good chunk of us have read and written fan fiction, as well--and written it with British co-authors. British spelling is not a problem to me, personally. Whether it's a problem to Medium's distribution algorithm, I don't know, but I hope not. It should not be.

For me, British quotation style is what I find odd and jarring, but I can get used to it.
