I live in Houston, Texas and tend to walk or take the bus where I need to go. Thus, I am more likely to be outside in the heat than most people.
I am married and grew my hair long for many years so I could donate it. Then I realized how much better short hair felt in Houston's heat and humidity, so I have kept my hair roughly shoulder-length for the last few years. I get it cut each May.
I guess it could be argued that I'm "no longer trying," but even if I became a widow, I would still keep my hair short because any guy interested in me, at this point, had better be prepared to love me as I am, because I'm not going back to long hair. I like my simple and easy to care for style.
