I always considered follow-for-follow to be a logical and useful best practice for everyone to get 100 followers as quickly as possible.
We all have to have the same number of followers if we want to earn from the Partner Program, so why shouldn't we help each other?
To this day, if I come across an author whose writing I enjoy and who has fewer than 100 followers, I'll follow the person. I've been a First Follower a few times. It shouldn't matter to anyone else why I followed the writer. The math, up to 100, is what's the most important. Below 100, your number of followers is a numbers game.
Sure, it would be wonderful if every one of my followers was a devoted fan who would read my work to the end of time. But it's not realistic for me or any other writer to expect that.
