Since I have the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day off, I decided to enjoy lunch today at McHugh Tearoom at 5305 Bissonnet Street. I am so glad I did!

I am a big fan of afternoon tea. I’m sure I must have been an English lady in a prior incarnation, because I love the stuff — the scones, the finger sandwiches, and most of all, the tea, made in a teapot, not a microwave oven, which is how I usually make it for myself.

Traveling to McHugh Tearoom by Bus

I write these restaurant reviews as a way of pointing out to blind people good restaurants they might enjoy dining at, which are accessible by bus. I cheated and took Uber because I had other trips I wanted to make today and didn’t want to have to spend time transferring to different bus routes.

5305 Bissonnet is small strip center that also contains the Vivaldi Music Academy and the Shul of Bellaire. It is not what I would call extremely accessible by bus, at least, not according to the map. There is a Route 65 bus stop on the other side of the street, at Bissonnet and Mapleridge, about 63 yards away. However, Bissonnet is a major, busy street, and I wouldn’t want to cross it on foot at Mapleridge unless I was…
