I’m going to take you all down a weird rabbit hole. I hope you’ll find it unusual enough to join me.

What are near-death experiences?

I recently became interested in near-death experiences (NDEs). I’ve read books by Dr. Bruce Greyson, Dr. Eben Alexander, and Dr. Penny Sartori, Ph.D, among others.

Greyson and Alexander are medical doctors. Sartori is a nurse who wrote her dissertation about cardiac patients she interviewed who had experienced NDEs.

An NDE is an experience people have who are clinically dead but can be resuscitated. During an NDE the person might experience floating above his or her own body or observe doctors’ attempts to resuscitate him or her.

The person can perceive events taking place outside of the immediate area while out of body, events s/he should be completely unaware of.

If the experience continues, the person usually experiences traveling through a tunnel toward a source of overwhelming light and love. The person often undergoes a review of his or her own life and is reunited with deceased loved ones and friends before being told s/he…
